Oxford Valley Mall is it alive or is it dying

Image
Still in Pennsylvania, I'll be visiting the Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne, PA. This mall looks busy but some parts of it are dead and also facing the future with apartments built on site. Oxford Valley opened in 1973 with Bamberger's JC Penny, Gimbel's and John Wanamaker or Wanamaker's also a 2 floor Woolworth's was located in the mall section. Next door to the mall is also a Sesame Place theme park which you can get views of mall on some of the rides. Two anchor changes happened in 1986 as Bamberger's became Macy's and the Gimbel's store closed being replaced with Stern's as the chain entered the Philadelphia market. Stern's had a short life in the Valley as they closed in 1989 and replaced with Sears which lasted till 2019. In 1995, Wanamaker's closed and converted to Hecht's which had a short tenure at the mall as they were replaced with Strawbridge's in 1997 even though there's one on a 10min drive down rt 1 to Bensalem at ...

Crossing state lines into Pennsylvania to check out a mall I went to one time a decade ago but could I be too late since I heard this mall is next to meet the wrecking ball. Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem, PA  History of Neshaminy Neshaminy Mall opened in 1968 in Bensalem, PA a half hour drive from Philadelphia. The opening anchors were Strawbridge and Clothier and Sears. In 1975, the mall had a expansion added a third anchor which was the Lit Brothers or Lits. This store was short lived and the first anchor change as Lits closed 2 years later and replaced with Pomeroy's which lasted a full decade and replaced with The Bon Ton which also had a short life at the shopping center as Boscov's would replace it in 1995. The next anchor change didn't come until 2006 When the Strawbridge brand was retired by Macy's after their acquisition of May department stores company which eliminated all the chains under their portfolio except for Lord and Taylor which was sold to Hudson Bay o...

In the midst of Paramus with its shopping paradise on highways 4 &17 as you make your way towards the GWB is the The shops at Riverside aka Riverside Square The mall originally started out with a stand alone Bloomingdale’s that opened in the late 50’s as the mall was built to it and opened in March 1977 also a Saks Fifth Avenue was added as the second anchor. If u been hiding under a rock the last almost 50 years this is a high end mall like Short Hills but not as big. The mall turned over ownership to Simon properties around 2017 and renamed the mall to The shops at Riverside also Saks closed and a AMC theatre was added. I haven’t been here in over 20 years I remember a darkened interior this place is mind blowing how it looks today with the renovations that was done
