Stern’s grand openings in NJ

Stern’s when their brand opened in malls throughout New Jersey. The stores beginning started out in NYC before opening its headquarters in Paramus when their huge Bergen Mall store opened in the 1950’s. Their stores are no more after 2001 with the Macy’s rebranding.

                                  Wayne 1970

Under the Stern Brothers name, their second mall store opened at the new Willowbrook Mall in Wayne replacing the downtown Paterson store which was with Quakenbush. This was a large store with 3 levels of merchandise sadly they closed in 2001 and replaced with Bloomingdale’s which is still at Willowbrook to this day.

                                Woodbridge 1971

Another large Stern’s opening at the Woodbridge Center mall as the malls third anchor after the malls opening earlier in the year. This store also closed in 2001 and was converted to a Macy’s even though there’s one two traffic lights away at Menlo Park mall.

                           Ocean Township 1979

This store opened at the Seaview Square Mall a smaller store than the Woodbridge  and Willowbrook  stores. In the late 1990’s, this Stern’s turned into a 1/2 off clearance center after they opened at Monmouth Mall replacing A&S after the Macy’s merger in 1995. This store was demolished in 2000 along with the original Seaview Mall. A Target sits where the Stern’s was.
