The battle of the toy stores
Which defunct toy store was the best. Growing up most of my toys came from most of these stores I believe one I never went to even though it was in my area when I moved over 30 years ago. I will break down which was was my favorite
Toys R Us
From kiddie toys to video games Toys R Us was frequently visited from the 70's to the 1990's. Toys R Us was like being a kid in a candy shop. A nice selection of everything and most of my shopping experiences came from there even video games where you had to get a slip, pay for it and get it a customer service I know the next store i'll talk about Child World did the same practice. Toys R US suffered financial problems in the 2000's where they went out of business in 2018. Toys R US has seen a new life after it ended with stores opening in certain shopping centers and striking a deal with Macy's to open a section in their stores and a flagship location opening in the mega sized American Dream in the NJ Meadowlands
KayBee Toys
Kaybee's were commonly found in regional malls everywhere. Kaybee was good when you couldn't find an item in different stores. Unlike Toys R US KayBee has not made a comeback after going out of business in the 2000's
Child World
Peter Panda as the mascot A store which I went to but not as much as the other two. The only one I went to was in Eatontown, NJ which was across from Monmouth Mall and Toys R US. Sadly this chain went out of business in the 1990's
Lionel's Kiddie City
Never went to this store even though there was one by me in nearby Edison, this chain also met its fate in the 1990's as well.
