Brunswick Square is it going strong or dying

Image
Another mall I will be visiting in Central Jersey not far away off rt 18 The Brunswick Square Mall in East Brunswick. Is this mall doing great today or is it failing?? We will explore this history of this one level shopping mall serving the area for over 50 years. History of Brunswick Square Even though a Bamberger's opened in 1970 as a single store, the mall and its second anchor JC Penny came in 1973 as De Bartolo Properties opened the shopping center. The only anchor change was when Macy's rebranded the entire Bamberger's chain in 1986. The mall also has a movie theatre which was a  2 screen small cinema, but now expanded to a 13 screen AMC theatre currently. A Barnes and Noble was added in 1999. Other outparcels at the mall is a Firestone, TD bank, Olive Garden and recently a Habit Burger grille. A minor expansion happened in the 2010's as a few sit down restaurants was added such as Panera Bread, Tilted Kilt now the Twisted Crab is that a sister place to the Krust...

Menlo Park Mall A mall doing very well

Image
My newest blog has moved to another mall a traffic light away from me, but this mall is doing very very well The Menlo Park Mall in nearby Edison is going strong while two traffic lights away at Woodbridge Center is on the verge of dying a slow death as a few anchors as well as store fronts are gone. History of Menlo Park Mall  The mall has started out as a open air shopping center  in 1959 like most malls did after World War 2 and when suburbia got big. Opening anchors were Bamberger's and Montgomery Wards, JC Penny Woolworth's, Shop Rite and Pantry Pride. In 1967, the mall became enclosed as a single level which would remain until its demolition in 1990. First anchor change came in the early 1970's as Ward's left and Alexander's opened. JC Penny moved to Woodbridge Center in the early 1980's. In 1986, Bamberger's was rebranded to Macy's. As mentioned the one story mall was demolished in the summer of 1990 leading to the mall building a 2 level structu...

The Golden Era of Japanese Cars

Image
With the news today of Acura reviving the RSX as a EV SUV (what the hell) I wanted to go back to a time especially when Japanese cars reigned supreme in the 1990's to the early 2000's  such as the Toyota Supra,Lexus SC and IS, Mazda RX-7 FD, Nissan 350Z, 240sx,S15 Silvia anf Skyline GT-R, Subaru with the WRX and STi, Mitsubishi with the Eclipse and Evo and Honda putting out iconic cars as the Civic, NSX, Integra/RSX and S2000. These were the icons of the Golden Era and still hold quality to this present days as cars are going green with Hybrid and electric options.
