80's car spotlight: Toyota Corolla AE86

 Switching gears from the retail world back to cars. Before the current day Toyota 86 and its cousin the Subaru BRZ was The Toyota Corolla AE86 introduced to dealerships back in 1983 which was a sports car which was a icon into the tuner car scene for future generations mainly as a car used for drifting. Japan inspired tuners to fix up these cars and take them to tracks and shred rubber. Also as times went by the car doubled in price as these cars sell for high value on sites such as bring a trailer.

 Short Hills the area that's very upscale with one of the oldest shopping centers borderline to Northern Nj The Mall at Short Hills. Short Hills Mall history Short Hills started with just B Altman in the mid 1950's. In 1961, Short Hills started out as an open air shopping center adding Bonwit Teller as the second anchor. In 1967, Bloomingdale's was added.  Found some ads when some of the malls opened in NJ. The one mall I actually went to opening day was Freehold raceway mall in 1990. Over that summer I stayed at my grandmothers while my mom had to work. So that was pretty easy in a way.                                                                       Garden State plaza 1957 New jersey’s first successful shopping center started out as an outdoor shopping plaza then transformed to an enclosed mega regional shopping center and growing ever since. Abraham and Straus grand openings in the tristate. **revised**

 Over the past years A&S expanded into different states including New Jersey and Pennsylvania                                                                     1971 Woodbridge  A first for New Jersey as the chain opened its first store at Woodbridge center mall with its pointy unique structure on the exterior it was a huge three floor store. The chains first effort in NJ was a success. In 1992, the store received a renovation inside in which there was a celebration in which the late NJ Nets star Drazen Petrovic signed autographs and 90210 star Gabrielle Carteris who played Andrea Zuckerman on the show. Sadly the store closed in 1995 after Macy’s phased out the A&S brand. The store was sold to Sears and opened that year and remained till 2020 and closed during the COVID pandemic it currently sits...
