Macy’s announces store closures some tri state stores affected

Things are not looking up for Macy’s as the company announced their store closure's. 66 stores throughout the country.  Shockingly  only one NJ store is closing and not even an actual store just the backstage store which was an actual Macy’s at the Essex Green Mall in West Orange also a former Stern’s till 2001. Up the road on interstate 280 the Livingston store lives to see another year at the almost dead Livingston Mall boy talk about dodging a bullet.

Other locations closing are two downtown locations which were different chains. Brooklyn which took over the former A&S flagship is closing almost 30 years to their takeover of the historic chain. Down the turnpike to Philly, the Macys will be closing on the former site of the Wanamakers flagship which has a beautiful interior if I do make a trip to Philly, I’d love to look inside.

Other locations closing in the tri state region

Sunrise Mall Massapequa, Long Island

Exton Square Mall Exton, Pa

Bronx, Ny (backstage)

Elmhurst, Ny (backstage)

Huntington, Ny

New Hyde Park, Ny (backstage)
