Mall at Short Hills, a upscale paradise

Short Hills the area that's very upscale with one of the oldest shopping centers borderline to Northern Nj The Mall at Short Hills.

Short Hills Mall history

Short Hills started with just B Altman in the mid 1950's. In 1961, Short Hills started out as an open air shopping center adding Bonwit Teller as the second anchor. In 1967, Bloomingdale's was added. By the mid 1970's, demand to go enclosed was in the plans so by 1980 the mall was enclosed as the Taubman Company developed the mall inside with its unique art pieces inside which is still there today. In March 1981, A&S would open its 4th Store in NJ joining Monmouth, Woodbridge and Paramus, this A&S had to try to sell merchandise that would equal its rival anchors already present. In 1994, Saks Fifth Avenue was added to the mall now the anchor changes so pretty much just one as A&S was retired in 1995 by Macy's which took over and there to this day. Also that year, the mall Welcomed in Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom as an expansion to the mall. Saks would close at the mall in 2016  as a Indigo book store would enter in its place on the lower level and Crate and Barrel would move into the upper level of the old Saks as junior anchors. Eataly, the Italian food hall would open at the mall a few months ago. Short Hills still remains strong despite its a upscale shopping plaza
