Cherry Hill Mall its a very successful mall in South Jersey

Image
A look at the Cherry Hill Mall  Cherry Hill opened in 1961 in which the Rouse Company and famed designer Victor Gruen would develop this shopping center well before Rouse developed Willowbrook, Woodbridge and Paramus Park in the late 60's to early 70's.  The mall opened in 1961 with Strawbridge and Clothier, Woolworth's, S.S. Kresge and Food Fair. Newark based Bamberger's would join the mall in 1962. The malls third anchor wouldn't come for a full decade which was in 1979 as JC Penny opened. Anchor changes would be Bamberger's converting to Macy's in 1986 and Strawbridge's closing in 2006 as the store would be demolished to make way for a Nordstrom and the first one in the South Jersey region in 2009. after the chain opened stores in central and northern New Jersey in the 1990's. The mall has gone thru renovations in the 1990's and late 2000's. Also coming to Cherry Hill will be Dick's house of sport concept which will replace the One Ch...

Quakerbridge Mall two anchors down but going strong

With its nearby location to the State Capital of Trenton is the Quakerbridge Mall in Lawrenceville. Quakerbridge opened in 1976 with Bamberger's, Sears, Hahne's and JC Penny situated off rt 1 not far from the Pennsylvania border and Oxford Valley and Neshaminy malls. first anchor change the mall had was in 1986 when Bamberger's changed to its parent company Macy's. 1989, Hahne's was rebranded to Lord and Taylor. Sears closed in 2018 and Lord and Taylor in 2020. A expansion project for this mall that never happened was to bring two luxury anchors as Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom were proposed but did not happen. The mall received renovations with elevators and escalators as well as a food court on the upper level which was converted from a Woolworth that closed years ago. Quakerbridge seems to be doing okay  before sports authority and dick's there was Herman's

Woodbridge Center revisited did it get better or worse

The day before thanksgiving and the expected holiday shopping season with Black Friday a day away, I visited a mall once a thriving king of central jersey has lost a former shell of itself. I’m talking about Woodbridge Center Mall. What happened to a mall where it took 20 minutes driving around looking for a prime parking space the malls would be packed to the point you were gonna be claustrophobic. No new anchors to replace stores that were giants in the tristate area. More of local storefronts that sell the most ridiculous clothing and furniture. This mall didn’t catch up on swinging the Apple stores, Uniqlo’s , old navy’s something that they know would attract the customer. No food court instead of casual fast food places sprawled all over. but this mall stays to its vintage aesthetic this was more of a negative than a positive. The mall stays afloat but for how long
