Whatever Happened to Nanuet Mall?? It became Nanuet Town Center
whatever did happen to the Nanuet Mall.
In 1969 the mall opened off rt 59 in Nanuet,NY with anchors Bamberger's, yea a Bamberger's in NY state is a rarity but it is being close to the NJ border had them open a store there which shoulda been a Macy's from the start. but not until the mid 1980's when they were phased out. Sears was another that opened. In November 1994, A&S opened a store which had the shortest timeline rebranding to Stern's in May 1995. The Stern's had a short span as well closing in 2001 and opened as Boscov's which lasted till 2008. then the mall would die and the mall would be demolished in 2012 It just couldn't compete with the larger Palisades Center down the NY thruway which opened in 1998. The mall would open as the Shoppes at Nanuet now Nanuet Town Center in which Macy's and Sears remained but Macy's would use that location in later years as their backstage store which I consider it as a modern day Budget store which most department stores used back in the days. but the somewhat new A&S/Stern's and Boscov's would be demolished with the mall. The shoppes is an open air center
The Shortest tenure ever for a dept store A&S opening in November 1994 lasting 5 months. became a Stern's on May 1, 1995 After Macy's merger with A&S.By the time this store opened A&S was in limbo on its future Maybe another chain shoulda opened they coulda put Boscov's before their 2001 opening
