Christmas toys of the 1980's
I can sure relate to this waking up on Christmas Morning finding that certain toy or top selling video game console underneath the tree. Most of these I got for Christmas in the days where no online shopping or getting deliveries via Amazon existed. We had to go to actual brick and mortar locations and hope and prayed they were some on the shelf and some kids Christmas was gonna be a special one.
Transformers 1984
The vehicle or something or other turning into a robot a battle of the Autobots and Decipticons. Optimus Prime vs Megatron. Midway thru the 80's was that kind of feel not only transformers also Go-Bots, Voltron and a few others. I was happy to get Optimus Prime underneath my tree 40 years ago. It was tough that holiday shopping season to get the popular Transformer who was featured on a daily animated series and a movie where he dies. But in 2007 Transformers was ressurected with a live action movie directed by Michael Bay for a new generation of fans.
Cabbage Patch Kids 1983
These dolls were popular in the early 1980's where people were fighting to get them in the stores that holiday season which contained a doll and certificate of authenticity. Thank god I didn't want that for Christmas.
Teddy Ruxpin 1986
A teddy bear in which you put a cassette tape and hear teddy tell you all kinds of stories hmmmm I wonder if you put a Michael Jackson album in he starts singing??? The world may never know
Hot Wheels playsets
They were a few I know I got as a kid the loop set, The cargo plane and the City foldable playset it was similar to the garage one it was fun and cool
Nintendo Entertainment System
I didn't get the NES from the start that was me getting the Atari 2600 but I did finally get it along with the gun for Duck Hunt which was on the same cartridge with the start of the Super mario bros franchise which in later years presented 2 more sequels in which SMB 3 broke records in 1990 as you can play as Mario and Luigi in racoon tail and suit, frog suite, a statue, fire suit and one of the hammer bros great start for the NES. which led on to more success with the SNES and N64.
HE-MAN Masters of the Universe
Another toy based off a daily cartoon series. I had some He-Man figures but not all of them neither the Castle of Greyskull playset either.
