Willow Grove Park A mall that's standing strong 40 plus years later

Willow Grove Park Mall another successful mall in Pennsylvania

Willow Grove Park was built on the Former Willow Grove Amusement Park that closed in 1975 in which this shopping center has its Victorian amusement park look to the interior and exterior. In 1978, Federated Dept Stores and the Rubin Organization proposed the mall outside of Philadelphia. The mall opened in the Summer of 1982 with Bloomingdale's and B Altman as day 1 anchors. In October, A&S opened its second Pennsylvania store a little over a year after opening its first PA store in nearby King of Prussia. First anchor change came in 1986 as B Altman closed and reopened as Sears. A&S would say goodbye to Pennsylvania for good closing in 1987 and converted to Strawbridge and Clothier or Strawbridge's which would last until 2006. the very top level was changed to a Cheesecake Factory, Bravo Cucina restaurant which later became Yard House and Nordstrom Rack while the two floors were supposed to open as Boscov's but it didn't due to its Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2008. JC Penny would open in its spot in 2011 and had a brief stay at the mall closing in 2017.Currently the 2 floors of the former A&S is now Tilted 10 a place similar to Round 1 or Dave and Busters. Macy's would join the mall in 2001 as a fourth anchor. Primark would also open and take over 1 floor of the Sears in 2016. Sears itself would close in 2022 making it the last store to close in the Keystone State. The mall is owned by PRIET and their second successful mall besides Cherry Hill Mall on their portfolio.

Rare shots of the A&S at Willow Grove kinda surprised they didn't use the new logo                                           and they went with the Abraham and Straus branding on the building
